Antonio Mazzeo (Italy)

Teacher, peace researcher, and journalist committed to peace, militarization, the environment, human rights, and the fight against mafia crime. He worked in different cooperative projects in Albania, Bosnia y Herzegovina, Colombia, Brasil, Cuba, Uruguay, Guatemala and Honduras. He received the “G. Bassani – Italia Nostra 2010” Award for journalism and, in 2013, the second national “Gruppo Zuccherificio” award in Ravenna for investigative journalism. In Rome, on October 8, 2020, he was awarded the “Golden Dove for Peace” by the Archivio Disarmo in recognition “for having interpreted journalism and writing for years as a mission to defend human rights and denounce injustice.” He has published numerous essays on conflicts in the Mediterranean region, human rights violations, organized crime, and the militarization of the region.
