Jorunn Kalvik (Norway)

Jorunn Aanensen Kalvik is a Norwegian, a mother of three adult kids, educated as a teacher first but has worked as a deputy head for about 20 something years. She has also worked as a representative for the Socialist left party in her county in the southern part of Norway.

She has been an advocate for human rights in Palestine since the first uprising in 1987, and she is the leader of the Palestine Committee of Agder in the southern part of Norway in the last 3 years. She has been on their board for about 10 years.She is also a regular participant in the National Board of the Palestine Committee of Norway since the last 4 years. She regularly writes articles for the newspapers in Norway, local and national and she has also participated in writing articles for the Palestine Committee’s Palestine Magazine as one of the editors. She regularly holds speeches about Palestine around the country and in various occasions, and some of her many Palestinian friends in and out of Palestine sometimes refers to her as “more Palestinian than the Palestinians”.

She travels regularly to Palestine, about two times a year, a stays there for weeks. Last year she started a Palestine shop in Kristiansand, selling Palestinian products imported from Palestine and in support of Palestinian arts and crafts and Palestinian farmers and business life.Her interests apart from Palestine? Movies… from and about Palestine :).

So, day in day out is about Palestine in her life. Since October 2023 as the weekly organizer of demos in the southern part of Norway. One of her most stated sentences are: “there can be no peace without freedom”.
